I realized I didn't really go into detail about my bubba in my last post.
Charlotte Grace was born on the 1st of October 2010, at 1:32am weighing 8lbs 5oz. Apparently she was on the bigger side but she was still so so tiny and delicate. I remember kissing each of her tiny, slim fingers and each of her short, chubby toes. She came out quickly and quite easily, with almost no help from the midwife (my doctor hasn't even made it to the birthing suite yet, that's how quick it was). I was told I'm the ideal birthing machine. Great to know.
Anyway, she had this soft fuzzy pink skin, and huge chubby cheeks. I was standing up when I delivered her (must be why she came out so easily, gravity!) so the midwife forced my reluctant mother to cut the cord and shoved her into my arms so I could climb up on the bed with her. Chest to chest time with your baby as soon as they are born is super important, as the skin to skin contact warms them up, stimulates their organs and encourages them to feed, as well as bonding with the mother.
I laid there with her on my chest for about half an hour. She was sucking on her little fingers and making little gurgle noises. It was really quite bizarre to look at her, then at my slightly deflated stomach and think that moments ago, she was in there! This fully-functioning kid of mine was inside my stomach!
The last two years have gone so fast. Sitting up at four months, crawling at six, walking at 12, and now she's two years old! I can barely believe it. I remember the doctor telling me I was pregnant and I immediately thought, "that's not possible." And now she's a big girl. She's a crazy maniac, always running around squealing and jabbering non-stop. Her favourite words are "whas dat?" and Dora and "Sillyyyy Mummy!". I've always thought one of the most important things about being a parent is the ability to be silly and fun and imaginative with them, which is why I'm 'silly Mummy'. She loves to dance and play outside in her cubby house, and is the funniest little egg I've ever met.
Yesterday my mum, my sister, Charlotte and I had lunch out. We were sitting in a booth and there was some women in the booth behind us being a bit noisy and rowdy, which we didn't mind at all. Apparently Charlie did, as she stood up, turned around and yelled at them, "SHOOOOOSHHH. SHOOSHY. SHOOOOSSHHYYYY." And put her finger on her little lips and sat back down. That's the kind of kid she is.
So that's a little bit about Charlotte. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback! I hope I'm interesting enough!
